While on Infant Care, each infant classroom is also designed to offer ample floor and tummy time. The floor is the ideal place to encourage the development of physical milestones such as; holding up ones’ head, rolling over and crawling. With scheduled tummy time, we are enhancing these developments by strengthening an infant’s neck, arms, and tummy.
During the Toddler years there are many different skills that are developing as well as strengthening. These skills range widely from language/vocabulary to large muscle development and will vary considerably based on the particular age of a toddler. It is our goal to ensure that every child is given the patience, tools and opportunities to successfully master each and every one of these skills.
The Learning Center’s Preschool program offers a hands-on and developmentally appropriate experience for your child. Our goal is to ensure that a child has ample opportunity to initiate play, as this is how they learn best. We also strive to ensure that we are doing what is necessary to prepare your child for Kindergarten. Our program is designed to reinforce growth in this area through play and teacher-directed activities that are age appropriate. When a Preschool child is developmentally capable, we will move forward with a Kindergarten Readiness approach.
Our Preschool program o ffers the following learning experiences:
Our Kindergarten programs offer before and after school care for your little ones the first year of school. The Learning Center provides transportation to and from your child’s public school, unless otherwise provided by the town. In each of the towns in which we provide service, the children do attend full day kindergarten at their assigned local school.
Our school age programs offer before and after school care for children enrolled in first through fifth grade. The Learning Center provides transportation to and from your child’s assigned public school.
In addition to before and after care, we also offer extended care for school age children on all days that school is not in session (professional development days, snow days, delayed opening and early release days, vacation weeks, and summer months).
Homework time is scheduled daily and The Learning Center teachers will offer assistance to children whose parents have given parental consent. In the afternoon the children are also offered arts and crafts opportunities as well as time to play outdoors and participate in group games. Summer vacation weeks and full days off from school follow a structured activity schedule similar to our summer camp.
The Learning Center offers a fantastic summer camp experience. Throughout the entire summer, our campers enjoy field trips, special visitors, swimming at the local pool, cookouts, arts and crafts, field days, and fun, child-initiated events such as talent shows and science fairs. In addition to all of the great camp adventures offered, we also plan a curriculum to include hands on science discovery, focus on strengthening writing skills, and cooperative group games that encourage a sense of teamwork.
The Learning Center has an open door policy. A parent is welcome to visit or call the center at anytime. If required, a conference with a child’s teacher can be scheduled through the Director.
