Good Shepherd Child Development Center, Inc., (Good Shepherd) provides early care and education services on a full-day, full-year basis for infants, toddlers and preschool children from working families. Particular consideration is given to low income and/or underserved families. Good Shepherd also operates a second childcare center, East Shore Child Development Center, which is licensed for 40 preschool children and is located in Milford. Both centers are open Monday through Friday, fifty-one weeks per year, from 6:45 am to 5:30 pm. The staff of thirteen teachers at Good Shepherd is experienced in early childhood education, and many have worked for the center for several years. Parent involvement is an important component of the program, which is run by the Executive Director under the advisement of a Board of Directors comprised of community leaders, parents and early childhood education experts.
Good Shepherd's ultimate goal was to create a facility that would enhance the learning environment and provide more positive and meaningful experiences for the children who attend Good Shepherd Child Development Center. With the construction of a new building, Good Shepherd now has increased physical activity opportunities for children at a young age. Additionally, the building provides a large-muscle activity room, air conditioning, sinks in all rooms, as well as bathrooms adjacent to all classrooms. A resource room for parents was included within the center to address needs specific to parents of young children.
