Why should rug owners bring their hand made rugs to Menoo Rug Gallery for washing and repair? The answer is simple: We care about your rugs.
First, all rugs are hand washed individually and air dried. Other rug dealers and carpet cleaners wash many rugs together in the same pool of water and dry the rugs by pressing them first and then quickly fan drying them. Wool rugs that are dried slowly maintain their original texture and color.
Second, we use only the most experienced rug repairman with decades of experience. Our repairs include mending, binding, fringing and stretching.
Why Buy Your Rugs from Menoo Rug Gallery?
I am a Persian-American woman with a Bachelor's degree in interior design. I personally select every rug in my shop. My selection decisions are based on two decades of experience in this field. Every shopper can avail themselves of my skills in interior design as well as my knowledge of hand made rugs. At Menoo Rug Gallery, I provide runner installation on your stairs, hand washing and repair services, pick up and delivery and free interior home consultation with the purchase of your rug.
It wouldn't be an understatement to say that Menoo Afkari-Jarrett has made the best of a bad situation.
After many years of marriage, she and her husband divorced, and Menoo, a native of Iran, found herself alone with two young children, and a failing business.
With minimal business experience, she took over the running of the store, but, not suprisingly, found the transition difficult. "I had entered a completely male-dominated industry, with no experience, except for a degree in interior design, and I had to prove myself to my male colleagues in a way that most men never would" Menoo explained.
It took some time for the industry's male players to accept Menoo as a business owner. " A few of my male colleagues gave me a hard time in the beginning, but through hard work and determination, and by following through on all my promises, I gained their trust, to the extent that some have asked to form partnerships with me."
Historically, the Persian rug business had been strictly that, according to Menoo, a business. "The concept of interior design was never a part of this industry, and I thought it made sense to combine the two" she said.
"I wanted to provide design services for my customers who might otherwise not have the budget to hire an interior designer, and I've always chosen rugs as an interior designer, not a rug dealer. I work with my clients to coordinate rugs with furniture, fabric, paint and accessories."
"I stay in touch with what's going on in the rug industry by attending trade shows, and visiting my family regularly in Iran. I also go to Europe, including Paris, London and Rome, to see firsthand the fashion trends. It's all about information, and I bring that to my business," Menoo explains.
