The Bike Shop is happy to announce that we are adding Specialized Bicycles to our lineup. We expect our first shipment of bicycles around September 1 and will be putting the bicycles on our web page shortly. We will be stocking a full line of road, hardtail mountain, full suspension 29ers, and family bikes. In addition to the Specialized bicycles, we will also be carrying a large line of Specialized accessories. We believe the addition of Specialized will add additional choices for you, our customers, and compliment our already large selection of Giant and Raleigh bicycles.

Having trouble getting up hills or keeping up with your friends? Come in and try our pedal assist bike. It has an electric motor built into the rear wheel with a 36 volt lithium battery mounted on the water bottle cage holders. We are a stocking dealer for the BionX Intelligent Electric Bike. Pedal assist can be put on almost any bike and will give you that added boost to get up hills or keep up with faster stronger riders. Click BionX for more info.

Once your bike is ready to go there are some excellent places to ride in the local area and all over New England. There is still plenty of riding weather left.
Weekends offer some great riding opportunities as the days get shorter. There are many places to ride in Connecticut and New England that make fun day trips. We have rail trail books for both Connecticut, New Hampshire and Massachusetts which describe the ride, where to park and any potential difficulties. These rides are mostly flat and are usually good for any type of bike. Stop by the shop and we can offer some suggestions to match your ability level.

If you need any additional gear for your rides, don't hesitate to stop by the Shop and let us make some suggestions. With the proper gear, you can ride well into the fall and still be comfortable.

Crashes Happen, But Be Prepared Not Scared - Women getting into cycling often ask us about crashing, what the chances are and what to expect. We wish we could say that it's a non-issue, but most riders, whether they ride the road or trails, or both, eventually crash. It's just the nature of two-wheeled vehicles that must be balanced to remain upright. Fortunately, these crashes are usually minor, and as long as you're wearing your helmet and gloves, and riding within your abilities, you should only suffer a few scrapes that'll heal quickly.
