Walker Crane and Rigging Corp. was established in 1883 and currently is one of the premier crane, rigging, and transportation operations in Connecticut. It employs approximately 40 full time employees to provide crane service with its own operators, rigging and machinery moving, warehousing and heavy hauling. We specialize in transportation throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Current management took over day to day operations in 1984. Since then, through the efforts of the management team and its employees Walker has increased its business tenfold, over what it was doing in the early 80's. The company's basic business philosophy is to concentrate on providing the best possible service to a large group of repeat customers. The company emphasizes quality, "one stop shopping" for one or up to all three of its services offered, and puts a second strong emphasis on flexibility, with regard to scheduling and customer needs.
Walker's management team is made up of employees who have been promoted to their positions from within or have had held similar positions with other prominent companies in the same line of work. Most have actually started their careers in the field prior to moving into their supervisory roles in charge of the current field workers. It is felt that this is the best of all worlds with respect to understanding what the crews are faced with on the jobsite as well as knowing the other things that are required to perform our customer work to the highest level of success possible.
For over 100 years Walker has been a key player in the business of moving things for others, on a local as well as a national level. Through its "old school" values applied to basic business practices, it seems quite promising that the organization will still be leading the way in 2083.
