Located on the historic Guilford Green, the library first opened in 1934. Its new website, created by CT media company mediaBOOM, combines the library’s rich history with modern day technology.
Improvement of the site’s navigation was one of the main objectives of our Web agency CT team. Users will find advanced search capabilities, allowing them to explore the library’s collections from a home computer. Further search tools are available through a Readers’ Resource Center, which was added to the site. Now, it’s also possible to download audio books at home, simply by clicking on the Download Audiobooks link.
Keeping with the hi-tech theme, patrons no longer have to visit the library to renew checked-out material. Instead, they simply enter a bar code online and renew books, DVD’s and other materials.
“It is much easier to navigate through our new website,” says Doris Andrews, the library’s Administrative Assistant. “Patrons can locate their information much faster with this new format. We have received numerous comments about the appearance and ease from patrons, board members and staff, thanks to mediaBOOM’s expertise.”
Through the new website, users can learn about the Library’s free Internet computers, wireless network, laptops and computer classes. Patrons can see what the Historical Room has to offer and also find out what’s going on at the library by simply logging online. The site includes a complete listing of programs the library has to offer; from upcoming children’s book readers to adult book clubs. By clicking on “Support the Library,” library- goers learn how they can volunteer.
The new Guilford Free Library website, guilfordfreelibrary.org has been recognized as a Top 2005 site for Web Excellence by Book Look, book-look.co.uk, which is dedicated to providing users with the best in books and entertainment.
